2024 Peer-to-Peer Meetings for Underserved Grantees Serving LGBTQ+ Survivors: Follow-up Resources and Connections Tips

Written Materials

During our 2024 Peer-to-Peer Series for Underserved Grantees serving LGBTQ+ survivors, one of the common issues that arose was the challenge of navigating internal and external crises while doing DV/SA work in service of the community. In addition to managing crises as individual advocates, participants also shared the layered challenge of managing crises as managers and leaders. Crises discussed ranged from sudden changes in leadership, disconnect between board and staff, high turnover to loss of funding and anti-LGBTQ+ and racist threats against the organization. Participants expressed a deep commitment to preventing organizational stress from having a negative impact on their service delivery. This resource shares some of the strategies discussed, additional resources to ensure staff well-being and safety, and consistent support, safety, and services for survivors who rely on our organizations.
